May 02, 2006May 2, 2006 - Timmerman 2nd Overall at ShenandoahTimmerman 2nd Overall at Tour of Shenandoah, April 25-30 The squad put in a fantastic ride to win two stages and take 2nd on the general classification in this early season stage race in Virginia. Cyclingnews.com has great coverage of all the stages with photos of the podium, the team pulling, Buck Miler, Josh Dillon, the squad, and Chris Rozdilsky. Timmerman wrote the following words of praise about his teammates: At Redlands, while I knew it was only March with most of the guys coming from the cold eastern winter, I was unsure of how strong the team was going to be this year...you know, since the roster changed so much and I didn't know what to expect. I don't have any doubts anymore. Shenandoah was impressive. I think we rode better as a team than I have seen yet since I signed on last year. We were in the top five every day except for the final crit where the priority was on GC instead. I don't think there was a single move that we weren't represented in all week. Dillon was killing it with a win and a 2nd, impressing everyone out there. Rozdilsky covered moves until he'd start riding like Stevie Wonder and then he'd follow another one. Perera spent more time getting bottles, putting me where I'm supposed to be, and taking his whole bike apart to fix Dillon’s while the race was going 30 on a dirt road....and then getting back on afterward only to have to cover a bunch of moves and get more bottles. Bucker stood on the podium the first day, well they didn't have a podium, so I guess he stood in the road and had people take pictures and stuff. Then he was super tucking on the front, or in a break the rest of the week and making sure the GC riders had the right equipment for the final TT despite the fact that he still doesn't even have a skin suit. Cody rode hard all week despite his injuries incurred from apparently keeping me out of peril and gave us rides to the stages when the team car was full. Whitey buried himself until he was literally making squeeling noises, helping me get the time bonus that made the difference between 3rd and 2nd on final GC....and then Zawacki rode in the car for 12hrs or whatever to get down here and probably paid his own way just to do support for us, which he did very well, and then drive another 12 to get home. We actually looked like the best amateurs in the country at Shenandoah. Let’s keep it up. good bikin, |
